On November 22nd, 2008 Diezel P released his 3rd project titled “Write Now!” at Satyricon in Downtown Portland. He had artists such as Mo B of the Sandpeople, Mr.MR of Gray Matters, DJ Flip Flop, Luck-One and Mac Smiff of Seventh Science, and many other credible Portland Hip-Hop artists to come bless the stage for this special event. A few months prior he had performed at Po-HOP 10, started his own Teen Hip-Hop Contest, and made a great first impression by releasing his debut music video to his already well recognized single “Get Involved”. His buzz was heavy and people all over the city wanted to hear the outcome of this highly anticipated album, and it showed because the release party turned out great with just over 200 people in attendance and a night full of memorable moments.
Well, November 22nd is coming back around, and he decided to make sure that all of Portland and beyond has heard this masterpiece before its 1st birthday, by making it available online for only $5. “Write Now!” is a 19 track album consisting of a variety of controversial, positive, and entertaining songs with an old school, jazzy, and soulful feel to it. It has had write ups in local papers, Oregon State University dedicated a segment to the album for their hip hop cultural class, was embraced in Costa Rica, and is being studied in schools in Yap, Micronesia. “Write Now!” has opened many doors for this up and coming artist such as a columnist job on this very site, an event coordinating position at Parks and Recreations, and many other opportunities that have gave him a chance to continue to give back to the very community that supports him.
